 ROTARY CLUB OF LAKE CONROE
COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS Adopt-A-Highway - Four times a year members of the RCLC meet at the
corner of Hwy 105 and Walden road to pick up trash. Our club adopted
a one mile stretch of Highway 105, west of Walden Road. When we have
finished our collection, we refresh/reward our selves at a nearby
restaurant. In addition, the person who finds the most unusual item
receives the traveling "Underdown Dollar" to be proudly displayed on

Fairway House Thanksgiving - Monday evening, November 19th - RCLC
members and their families prepare and serve a Thanksgiving dinner for
the residents of Fairway House(Montgomery County Youth Services).

MS Walk - Saturday morning, September 8th, 2007- The RCLC sponsors a team of walkers, "Jan's Team", during the annual MS Walk that is held in The
Woodlands. In addition, the RCLC sponsors a Break Point along the walk
with the Montgomery High School Interact Club manning the break point.
The Interact kids also come to the finish line to help congratulate the
walkers as they return. Chair - TBA
Literacy Volunteers of America Spelling Bee - Date TBA Each year the RCLC sponsors a team of three members who complete at the
annual Spelling Bee held at Montgomery College. Each speller, and any
alternates, will receive a study guide to help our team achieve success.

Leap of Faith - The Rotary Club of Lake Conroe will help host their Hula Hay Day Horse and Rider Show. This rodeo type event is an opportunity for the students of Leap of Faith to display their therapeutic-related horsemanship skills through friendly competition. Our club will help plan the event and provide volunteers and support staff the day of the event. The tentative date is Saturday, November 3, 2007. Chair - Kathy Scoles
SOS (Save Our Stuff) Days - The first Thursday of every month the RCLC
will be collecting items to be distributed to various agencies and
organizations. They are as follows:
- Toilet Paper Rolls - Candy for Mexico Project - Mike Landes
- Toiletry Items - Montgomery County Women's Shelter - Linda Ricketts and Dale Trimble.
- Books (Soft cover, hard cover, text books) Literacy Book Sale and Books for Africa - Linda Ricketts
Small pieces of luggage (back packs, gym bags etc.) - Children's Protective Services. (Kris McBride and Marie Underdown will provide name tags to attach to the luggage). - Marie Underdown Aluminum can tabs -Montgomery High School Interact Club- Mike Landes Used White or Light Colored Sheets and Towels - SPCA of Montgomery County and the Humane Society of Montgomery County. - Kathy Scoles and Marie Underdown. Can Goods and Non Perishable Food Items - Fairway and Bridgeway Homes.
Bridgewood Farms "Burn Your Buns" Bike Ride - the morning of July 4th - This annual benefit ride is held each year to raise money and awareness of Bridgewood Farms, a place where special needs adults can learn and practice various crafts and life skills so that they may reach their highest potential. Volunteers are needed to help at way stations, serve food and drinks to riders and help with registration. Chair - Mike McDougal
