The Rotary Club of Lake Conroe undertakes and participates in many international projects; some generated from within the Club, others as part of the Rotary International general worldwide program. Rotarians adhere to the motto “Service Above Self” and this is exemplified by their actions in the international charity arena. Within our Club we are proud with our ongoing annual commitments which include: Matching Grant applications in conjunction with our sister Metropolitano Rotary Club in Monterrey, Mexico, to supply much needed medical equipment for clinics and institutions in that region serving the poor and indigenous population. Such equipment as, Ambulances, X-Ray Machines, Pain Management Devices, and Medical Supplies. Two of the latest International Projects undertaken by the Rotary Club of Lake Conroe is another Matching Grant with the Metropolitano Rotary Club of Monterrey for a Pain Management Clinic for the poor indigenous inhabitants of that region and assistance in rebuilding local artisan industries after the devastating earthquakes following the tsunami in Java.
Visit to the Cerebral Palsy Instituto facility in Monterrey, Mexico in 2005. Support and participation, along with the Rotary Interact kids, in an outreach Candy Roll Christmas present project for Mexican children in the border areas who would otherwise not have gifts at that time of the year. Also, collections of underwear and other essential clothing for the same children. Active and ongoing support for the Rotary International Polio Plus program in conjunction with other international agencies to eradicate Polio from the face of the earth – a feat almost accomplished. To date Rotarians have donated nearly $700 million to this wonderful cause. The Rotary Club of Lake Conroe also actively contributes to Hunger Plus another Rotary outreach program with a mission to feed starving peoples in such places as Nicaragua. Also in Nicaragua we donate to water well drilling projects. It is planed to expand this avenue of service in the years ahead. In addition to these funding activities we also host incoming teams on youth and adult exchange programs. We are proud of our contributions to the international arena, while not loosing sight of the needs of those closer to home.
