MY ROTARY –No Update
FAMILY OF ROTARY –Craig updated us on Pixie! He was taking her back to the doctor to get the drain tubes removed. She had surgery a week ago Monday and is well, healing, and getting better. She has been sleeping in a recliner, but again very thankful that she is doing well. Thank you to the club for all your support!
Craig also gave us an update on Michael from Kris. His spirits are good, but things aren’t the best right now. He just has to work through this difficult time. He is a fighter and hanging in there!

Guest Speaker
Dr. Beau Rees and Bobby Morris updated the club on the progress on the construction projects for the Montgomery school district. Currently 8300 students enrolled with only 85 being new students. The District is also looking into mandate that will offer students on-line classes, testing requirements, etc. This has been a long process to get this approved for the district, but they are really excited about. In the next six weeks Elementary (Pre-K through 8th grade) teachers about 40% of the staff will be moved. The district will not be hiring any new teachers. They are also in the process of re-drawing attendance boundaries. Please go visit the website to see the lines and make any suggestions that you may have.
In May 2015, the Montgomery ISD Bond Construction Project was passed for $257 million. The construction projects as a result of the passing of the bond were for the building of three new schools (a second high school, junior high, and elementary). As of June 2016, they have been working on nine projects. Each of the eight existing campus is getting a face lift updating technology, replacing roofs, paint, new carpets, updating HVAC units, providing more parking and extending car rider lanes on some of the elementary and middle school sites, and updating security features in all facilities. Each campus will have controlled entry and every door will have card readers that will be used by teachers and staff. Intruder hardware on all classroom doors with cameras that will be located inside hallways and outside of the school. Projects are anticipated to be completed on time and under budget in 2018.
