PROGRAM:
Bonnie Pfrenger with Meals on Wheels. Meals on Wheels supports seniors in the community that are homebound by providing a nutritious meal once a day. Some of the people served are retired bus drivers, teachers, police officers, librarians, and engineers. Bonnie put faces and told stories about people they serve. They also provide rides for seniors to doctors appointments, hair cuts, or shopping trips. Their goal is to target the problems go aging: hunger, isolation, and loss of independence. They currently serve about 500 seniors. There are over 300 on the waiting list and about 50 added every month. The only thing stopping them to grow is funding. They will have a fundraiser on October 28th - The Great Pumpkin Shoot. You can register at mowmc.org/pumpkin-shoot.
